Kylian Mbappé’s Club and Country Careers Thus Far

With Kylian Mbappé about to leave Paris Saint-Germain, let us now take a look at the player’s glittering careers at both club and international levels thus far. Mbappé burst onto the scene when he graduated from the AS Monaco academy and made his debut for the senior team back in 2015/2016. Despite scoring a single goal in that year, the France striker went on to find the net 26 times in 44 games in all competitions in the following season, leading the club to impressively capture the French Ligue 1 title as well as a runners-up finish in the Coupe de la Ligue. He ended his tenure at Monaco with 27 goals and 16 assists in 60 games played.

Mbappé left AS Monaco and joined his current club at PSG on loan, before his 21-goal scoring season in 2017/2018 prompted the French giants to turn the deal permanent, allowing him to spend the next five and a half seasons at the club. With 290 appearances for PSG under his belt, Mbappé is the all-time leading goal scorer of the club at 243 goals in addition to his 105 assists, that is, an insane goal / assist per game ratio of 1.2. Apart from these staggering individual statistics, the 25-year-old also collected numerous team accolades during his time with PSG, including five league, four Coupe de France, two Coupe de la Ligue and three Trophée des Champions titles.

Mbappé debuted for France in 2017, becoming the second youngest player ever to represent Les Bleus. The forward had to find his feet in the inaugural year of his senior international career, and he responded with a breakout year in 2018, where he led France to their second triumph in the FIFA World Cup, winning the tournament’s Best Young Player award as a result. In 2022, Mbappé led France to another FIFA World Cup Final by scoring eight times, and his total tally in the tournament was increased to 12 goals, which are four behind the all-time record set by Germany’s Miroslav Klose. Mbappé was also named France’s captain in 2023 following Hugo Lloris’ international retirement.

What Is Next for Kylian Mbappé as He Is Set to Leave Paris Saint-Germain?

The decision of Mbappé to leave Paris Saint-Germain is a massive news to the world of football, and all eyes will turn to his next destination, which in many opinions, will be his dream club at Real Madrid after years of speculations. In regard to the breaking news that Mbappé decided to leave Paris Saint-Germain, it has been told that Los Blancos had sent a contract proposal to the player’s camp. Nevertheless, the new deal proposed by the 35-time La Liga winners raised eyebrows as the salary package they offered to Mbappé is much lower than what they offered in 2022 and that of PSG’s new deal, meaning the negotiation might not be easy down the road.

In a social media post on the social media account of Fabrizio Romano, the renowned football journalist from Italy confirmed Real Madrid’s offer to Mbappé upon his announced decision to leave Paris Saint-Germain: “Real Madrid have already sent contract proposal to Kylian Mbappé’s camp. The salary offered by Real Madrid’s way lower than the one they proposed to Mbappé back in summer 2022. The contract proposal is also lower compared to what Paris Saint-Germain offered for new deal at the club. It’s up to Mbappé as Real Madrid remain confident as reported — but still cautious and calm until it’s signed.”

Should Mbappé’s deal does not materialise at Real Madrid, clubs that could go for the Frenchman’s signature would be English Premier League giants Arsenal and Liverpool, while other notable mentions in this case would be a team from the Saudi Pro League and traditional European club football powerhouses namely Bayern Munich and Real’s archrivals Barcelona.
