Lusail Stadium
This stadium is the biggest venue among the eight. A seating arrangement of 80,000 people is possible here. Along with the other matches it shall be hosting the final match as well. It adds beautiful sight to the stadium when it reflects the shimmering light of the sun in gold. The roof of this stadium is retractable.
Al Bayt Stadium
This stadium shall host the opening ceremony along with nine matches of the tournament. The structure of this stadium resembles the tents that were once used by the nomadic people.
Al Janoub Stadium
This is one of the stadiums that have been built from the scratch. It shall host multiple matches of the world cup up to the round of 16. This stadium has been designed by Zaha Hadid, the British-Iraqi architect. The structure and the architecture have been inspired by the sails of the traditional Dhow boats. These boats were used by the pearl divers of this region. The exterior and curvilinear roof refers to Al Wakrah’s seafaring history. It also gives the spectators a feeling of being present on a ship. The bowed beams that hold the roof of this stadium, represent the hull of the ship.
Ahmad bin Ali Stadium
This stadium was built in 2003 but has undergone a renovation in 2016 for the 2022 world cup. This stadium shall host the group stage matches between different countries and also the matches in the round of 16. It has lots of lights and a great seating arrangement.
Khalifa International Stadium
This was the first on the list to be tournament ready venue for the world cup 2022. Here you can be a witness to many matches till the third-place play-off. In the year 1976, the inauguration of this stadium took place. And in 2017 it had gone a renovation for the 2022 world cup. Many memorable international big tournaments such as the Asian Games, Gulf Cup, and also the AFC Asian Cup too has been played in this stadium already.
Educational City Stadium
This stadium is located in Al Rayyan at Qatar Foundation’s Education City. Forty thousand people can enjoy the match here. Twenty percent of the building material of this stadium is green. This makes it one of the most sustainable stadiums in the world. In 2019 May, it received a five-star GSAS (Global Sustainability Assessment System) rating.
