26-year-old centre-back from Brazil Éder Militão has confirmed the next chapter of his professional senior career at club level, after the Sertãozinho-born defender decided to commit his future at his current club at the 35-time Spanish La Liga and 14-time European Cup / UEFA Champions League winners Real Madrid. According to official reports, the former São Paulo FC and FC Porto man Éder Militão has penned a contract extension that will keep him at the Spanish capital until the end of the 2027/2028 Season, where he would be hitting the thirties at that time, promising an optimistic outlook in the near and far future for the football juggernauts Los Blancos.
Real Madrid’s Public Statement on Éder Militão’s Renewed Contract
Los Blancos posted on their official website to confirm Éder Militão’s contract extension. The announcement read “Real Madrid C. F. and Éder Militão have agreed to extend they player’s contract with the club until 30 June 2028. Militão joined Real Madrid in 2019, aged 21, and in his five seasons wearing our jersey he’s become one of the best centre-backs in the world. He’s won 9 trophies with Real Madrid: 1 Champions League, 1 Club World Cup, 1 European Super Cup, 2 Spanish Leagues, 1 Copa del Rey and 3 Spanish Super Cups. Militāo has made 143 appearances with our team, scoring 11 goals, and is a Brazil international, having featured 30 times and winning the Copa America in 2019″.

Éder Militão Delighted with the Contract Extension
“I feel very excited about my renewal and proud to remain in the best club in the world. It is, without a doubt, one of the happiest days of my life. Being here is a great and beautiful thing. Being alongside the president and surrounded by 14 Champions League trophies. It’s a source of pride and I feel motivated to keep making history here. Real Madrid is an honour. It’s my home. I feel very good here with my teammates and it’s where I’ve learned a lot of good things. It’s a club that has been very special to me since I first arrived here,” said Éder Militão on his contract extension with Real until 30th June 2028.
The 26-year-old Éder Militão also added these: “I’m getting better every day and I’m gradually doing the things I’m being asked to do. I’m following the plans of the doctors and the physios. Real Madrid are helping me a lot. The facilities here and being with everyone makes you feel important and gives you a bit of life and joy. There’s no reason to be discouraged. I will always remember Vini Jr.’s goal in the Champions League final because since I left Brazil it was a dream of mine to play in a Champions League final and when Vini Jr. scored I was very emotional.”
The great defender from Brazil went on to say: “My time here and the games have helped me a lot as a footballer. You arrive at the best club in the world and you understand from the start what Real Madrid is about. As a person I’ve changed a lot mentally. You have to understand that you must play to always win, every game, and have a great love for the crest you wear. It’s a very joyful dressing room. There’s banter between us and it’s a dressing room with a great atmosphere. There’s no bad feeling, just good-hearted people who try to help each other. It’s a great changing room.”

Éder Militão’s Career at Los Blancos So Far
Éder Militão spent three seasons with São Paulo FC and FC Porto from Brazil and Portugal respectively prior to his €50-million move to the Spanish capital of Madrid at Real. The 26-year-old then racked up a total of 143 appearances in all competitions over four and a half seasons, scoring 11 goals and assisting five times in those matches. Besides, he has won eight team honours for Real Madrid in addition to his induction to multiple La Liga Team of the Season in the recent couple of years.
Apart from his amazing club career at Los Blancos, Éder Militão also has 30 international caps with five-time FIFA World Cup winners Brazil under his belt, with his famous team accolade as a member of Seleção Canarinha being the 2019 Copa América triumph. The player is currently suffering from a cruciate ligament tear, and will not be available for both Real Madrid and Brazil until mid-March 2024.
