Breaking: Julian Nagelsmann Will Be Appointed the New Germany Manager for UEFA Euro 2024, Replacing Hansi Flick Once Again

Breaking: Julian Nagelsmann Will Be Appointed the New Germany Manager for UEFA Euro 2024, Replacing Hansi Flick Once Again

Gloomy days of the Germany men’s international football team in recent times are finally over, as the Germany FA is set to appoint 36-year-old former TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann as the next head coach of Die Mannschaft. The breaking news was confirmed by famous Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano on his social medias, and came days after 58-year-old former manager Hansi Flick was sacked due to extended periods of poor forms in major tournaments and other matches. Julian Nagelsmann has been tipped the clear favourite to succeed Hansi Flick for the German gaffer role since the latter’s sacking earlier this month.

Retired as a Player at the Age of 20

The Landsberg am Lech-born Julian Nagelsmann may not strike football fans as a great footballer since he was already retired as a player at the tender age of 20 due to career-ending injuries, having not made any senior appearances for former clubs TSV 1860 Munich II and FC Augsburg during his short playing career. Nevertheless, the retirement as player did not dampen Julian Nagelsmann’s passion in the sports, and he dived into the coaching role at the youth team of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim right after his playing days, before being appointed the senior team’s manager by 28 back in October 2015.

Julian Nageslmann was due to start coaching the team from the 2016/2017 Season onwards, but since his predecessor Huub Stevens was plagued by health issues, the former was brought on to replace the ill latter ahead of the initial contract timeline. It was during this period where everyone saw Julian Nagelsmann’s potential of becoming a true great football manager in years to come. In his first year in charge, Julian Nagelsmann helped the team avoid relegation, before leading them to break multiple team records such as qualifying for the UEFA Champions League and finishing third in German Bundesliga 1 for the first time in history.

He continued his coaching career at another Bundesliga 1 club RB Leipzig from July 2019 to June 2021, in which he attained more amazing achievements in a less-known German outfit as compared to powerhouses namely Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. During his two-year spell with Leipzig, Julian Nagelsmann led the team to capture a second-placed finish in Bundesliga 1, a DFB-Pokal runner-up as well as a semifinal run in the UEFA Champions League, prompting personnel in the Bayern Munich camp to hunt for the German’s signature as their next head coach.

Julian Nagelsmann’s Incredible Managerial Statistics Despite Being Only 36

Although Julian Nagelsmann’s time with Bayern Munich as their coach was short lived, his win-rate of more than 71% as well as three domestic titles (One Bundesliga 1 title and two DFL-Supercups) showed that he has underachieved with the club and definitely does not deserve to be sacked by the Bavarians. If anything, Julian Nagelsmann’s appointment as the next Germany manager means he will have another chance to prove his worth in a much larger platform in the form of international matches.

Apart from Julian Nagelsmann, another notable name that will be leaving club managerial career to pursue a coaching role at international stage is 64-year-old Italian Carlo Ancelotti, who is set to leave Spanish La Liga side Real Madrid and coach five-time FIFA World Cup winner Brazil at the end of the 2023/2024 Season. Check out this article for Ancelotti’s full story on his new role as the manager of the Seleção.

Julian Nagelsmann to Pen a One-Year Contract with Germany

Like his appointment with Bayern Munich, Julian Nagelsmann will once again replace older compatriot Hansi Flick at a coaching role, this time with the German national football team. It is worth mentioning that the 36-year-old’s tenure with the four-time world champions will last until the end of their home event of UEFA Euro 2024, meaning should Julian Nagelsmann is able to create certain accomplishments in the major tournament next year, his time with Die Mannschaft is likely to be extended.

In light of the German FA’s latest arrangement on the coaching role for the men’s national team, Julian Nagelsmann and Bayern Munich will terminate their contract by mutual consent (The 36-year-old is technically contracted to the German club despite being sacked earlier this year), and the former will forgo his lucrative salary with the 33-time German champions to take a much lower wage with the national side this time around.
