Sensational Brazilian Duo Vinícius Júnior and Rodrygo Sign New Real Madrid Contract Extensions, Keeping Them Until June 2027 and 2028

Sensational Brazilian Duo Vinícius Júnior and Rodrygo Sign New Real Madrid Contract Extensions, Keeping Them Until June 2027 and 2028

It is certainly a great week for 35-time Spanish La Liga champions Real Madrid, since two of their most valuable players in the team Vinícius Júnior and Rodrygo have decided to pen their new Real Madrid contract extensions this week. Carlo Ancelotti’s Los Blancos are currently the no. 1 team in the Spanish top-flight football after nine wins in 11 Matchdays in the 2023/2024 Season, and the new deals will see the Brazilian strikers, aged 23 (Vinícius Júnior) and 22 (Rodrygo) 22 this year, continue to play for the team in famous white jerseys until the summers of 2027 and 2028 respectively.

Official Statements on New Real Madrid Contract Extensions

In light of the new Real Madrid contract extensions with Vinícius Júnior and Rodrygo, Los Blancos released official statements to confirm the news. The announcements on Vinícius Júnior’s and Rodrygo’s Real Madrid contract extensions read “Real Madrid C. F. and Vinícius Júnior have reached an agreement to extend the player’s contract, linking him to the club until 30 June 2027” and “Real Madrid C. F. and Rodrygo have agreed a contract extension for the player, who will remain at the club until 30 June 2028”.

The Brazilian Duo’s Career Thus Far

Vinícius Júnior’s and Rodrygo may only be 23 and 22 this year, but the young duo has been firing from all cylinders for club and country since making their senior debuts at a tender age, winning eight major trophies together for their club prior to penning their Real Madrid contract extensions earlier this week. These achievements led them to be given with the famous jerseys of no. 7 and no. 11 at Madrid, previously worn by club legends Raúl, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale respectively before their Real Madrid contract extensions in 2023/2024.

For the older of the two, Vinícius Júnior started his career at Campeonato Brasileiro Série A’s CR Flamengo, scoring 14 goals in 69 appearances in all competitions for the Brazilian club before he made a move to Real Madrid’s reverse team Real Madrid Castilla. His development and adaptation at Spain were slow and steady, finally seeing himself blossom in the 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 Seasons, scoring a total of 45 goals in 107 games for Real Madrid afterwards. His performance in 2023/2024 is shadowed with an early injury, but had since scored three goals in 10 matches.

The younger Rodrygo also had a similar path to Real Madrid like his older compatriot. He began his senior career at another Campeonato Brasileiro Série A club Santos FC, and joined Real Madrid Castilla after a three-year stint at Brazil. Although none of his season tally was in double figures in his first three seasons with Los Blancos, Rodrygo went on to score 19 goals in 2022/2023. The 22-year-old currently has two goals in 14 matches in all competitions this season, and the new Real Madrid contract extension would definitely push him and Vinícius Júnior for better performances in 2023/2024.

Future Is Secured for Real Madrid

Vinícius Júnior and Rodrygo were not the only ones who signed new Real Madrid contract extensions this season. Apart from the duo’s new deals, Ancelotti is also blessed with signed Real Madrid contract extensions by Toni Kroos, Luka ModrićFederico Valverde and Brahim Díaz, keeping them until the end of this 2023/2024 Season and June 2027 respectively.

All these recent and positive movements by the club, coupled with the current deals of other players namely Eduardo Camavinga (Contract ends June 2027), Fran Garcia (Contract ends 2027), Aurélien Tchouaméni (Contract ends June 2028), Jude Bellingham (Contract ends June 2029) and Arda Güler (Contract ends June 2029) and potential Real Madrid contract extensions with Éder Militão and others, it is more than fair to say that the future is in safe hands at the 35-time Spanish league winners.

Will Mbappé Finally Arrive at Real Next Season?

Having their future secured via new Real Madrid contract extensions with Vinícius Júnior and Rodrygo and other deals, Los Blancos will be spoilt with options going forward, and the vacated no. 9 jersey and potentially the no. 10 jersey should the evergreen Modrić does leave Real at the end of the 2023/2024 Season, could only mean one thing: A top centre-forward is ready to join the Spanish La Liga juggernauts soon, and Real have been heavily linked with 24-year-old French sensation Kylian Mbappé in the past few years.

The newly promoted captain of the France national team forwent a chance of signing a contract extension with his current club Paris Saint-Germain before the deadline, and speculations all lead to him finally leaving the French capital and joining his favourite club at Real Madrid as a free agent next year. Although the PSG camp suspended Mbappé for his actions that were deemed “Lack of commitment” to the club, he was allowed to play again for the club shortly after, knowing that the French Ligue 1 champions could not do wonders without his attacking presence.

Should Mbappé does join Real Madrid in the 2024/2025 Season, he will team up with the likes of young and promising stars such as Vinícius Júnior, Rodrygo, Bellingham, Camavinga, Valverde, Tchouaméni and others for Los Blancos‘s relentless quests of conquering domestic and European club football competitions.

Do you think the potential transfer of Mbappé to Real Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain will be a huge addition to the Spanish La Liga powerhouses after Vinícius Júnior’s and Rodrygo’s Real Madrid contract extensions, or is the French captain better off staying in France with PSG?
