English Premier League giants and 13-time winner Manchester United have entered the “Final stages” of internal investigation on 21-year-old player Mason Greenwood. The Red Devils have conducted an intense probe on the controversial England forward upon his dropped changes in the court, and deduced that a final decision on whether Mason Greenwood can play again for Manchester United will be made later this 2023/2024 Season.

In an official statement released on Manchester United‘s website on Mason Greenwood’s future, the club stated in details that: “Following the dropping of all charges against Mason Greenwood in February 2023, Manchester United has conducted a thorough investigation into the allegations made against him. This has drawn on extensive evidence and context not in the public domain, and we have heard from numerous people with direct involvement or knowledge of the case. Throughout this process, the welfare and perspective of the alleged victim has been central to the club’s inquiries, and we respect her right to lifelong anonymity.
“We also have responsibilities to Mason as an employee, as a young person who has been with the club since the age of seven, and as a new father with a partner. The fact-finding phase of our investigation is now complete, and we are in the final stages of making a decision on Mason’s future. Contrary to media speculation, that decision has not yet been made and is currently the subject of intensive internal deliberation. Responsibility ultimately rests with the Chief Executive Officer.
“Once made, the decision will be communicated and explained to the club’s internal and external stakeholders. This has been a difficult case for everyone associated with Manchester United, and we understand the strong opinions it has provoked based on the partial evidence in the public domain. We ask for patience as we work through the final stages of this carefully considered process.”
What Happened to Mason Greenwood?
Born on 1st October 2001 and gifted with equal potential on both feet, Mason Greenwood has been one of the brightest stars that the Manchester United academy has ever seen. Since bursting onto the scene in senior professional football in the 2018/2019 Season, the Bradford-born striker scored 35 goals in 129 appearances in all competitions for Manchester United, with his best season thus far being the 17-goal year in the 2019/2020 Season.
Apart from an impressive goal contribution to Manchester United, Mason Greenwood broke several records in football, namely being the youngest Manchester United player to reach 50 appearances since club legend Ryan Giggs did it in 1992, the first player born in the 2000s to score for the Red Devils and even a nomination for Premier League Player of the Month in 2021. Charges Dropped Against Mason Greenwood in February 2023
Mason Greenwood was then arrested by the Greater Manchester Police and probed by the authority regarding his rape and assault charges, with ripple effects being an internal suspension by Manchester United, discontinued sponsor by Nike, removal from FIFA games by EA Sports. The related hearing and investigation only ended earlier this year, when a “New material that came to light” and witnesses’ withdrawals led to dropped charges on the 21-year-old footballer.
Since then, the Manchester United management and personnel had run their own probe over the player, with consultations also being raised to women’s team players and team sponsor Adidas. According to latest reliable sources, the responses have been positive and it is likely that Mason Greenwood will wear the famous Manchester United jersey again when all things are all done and dusted.
