The 2023 Golden Boy: Jude Bellingham, Jamal Musiala and Rasmus Højlund Headline Top 20 Finalists for the Prize

All the stars are aligned for the world of football to reveal its very best young talent of the calendar year to its masses of spectators, because the 2023 Golden Boy has just released the list of top 20 finalists for this year’s award ceremony. Among these 20 football prodigies in the final list, England and Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham, Germany and Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala, Denmark and Manchester United striker Rasmus Højlund, Netherlands and RB Leipzig (On loan from Paris Saint-Germain) attacker Xavi Simons as well as Spain and Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde are the favourites to bring home the 2023 Golden Boy honour later this year.

Bellingham or Musiala to Win the 2023 Golden Boy?

Although the final list of the 2023 Golden Boy award consists of 20 players, but it has been clear that the award will only go to either Bellingham or Musiala. Having played for the youth team of Three Lions, both Bellingham and Musiala went on to translate their brilliances into senior professional football for club and country.

For Bellingham, who made his name at Borussia Dortmund after his expensive transfer from Birmingham City as a 17 year old, continued to show his masterclass for his country of England and in the Spanish La Liga with Real Madrid this year. The youngest ever captain in German Bundesliga 1 currently has 10 goals and three assists in 10 matches in all competitions for Real Madrid in the 2023/2024 Season, and he is surely not shy to receiving individual honours, having already collected awards such as Bundesliga Player of the Season, member of Bundesliga Team of the Season, EFL Young Player of the Season, etc.

The 20-year-old Bellingham will encounter a feisty competition from his old friend, Musiala from Germany and Bayern Munich. Graduated from Bayern’s own academy, the Stuttgart-born midfielder went on to represent the senior team 133 times across five seasons, scoring 33 goals and providing 25 assists as a result. The young German midfielder, who also has registered 33 international caps for Die Mannschaft, is considered the favourite to receive the 2023 Golden Boy award ahead of Bellingham, especially after his 16-goal performance in the 2022/2023 Season.
