How Did Paulo Dybala Complete a Hattrick in AS Roma’s 3-2 Victory Over Torino FC?

How Did Paulo Dybala Complete a Hattrick in AS Roma’s 3-2 Victory Over Torino FC?

30-year-old versatile attacker from Argentina Paulo Dybala made the headlines in the world of football when he decided to leave Juventus to join another Italian Serie A club AS Roma at the start of the 2022/2023 Season after his seven-year stint at the Old Lady. The 2022 FIFA World Cup winner Paulo Dybala was a key player in the José Mourinho squad that made it into the UEFA Europa League Final in the same season, where he netted the game opener against the eventual champions Sevilla FC.

Just yesterday, Paulo Dybala once again showed his class as a footballer and bagged an emphatic hattrick for Roma in their 3-2 triumph over Torino. Let us now take you into the details of the Italian top-flight football matchup.

It Is Paulo Dybala’s World, We Are Just Living in It

AS Roma succumbed to Inter Milan earlier in the month, but they went on to remain undefeated in their following three matches in all competitions, reaching the UEFA Europa League Round of 16 with their penalty shootout win over Dutch Eredivisie side Feyenoord in the Knockout Round Play-Offs and overcoming Frosinone Calcio during the process. Daniele De Rossi’s men proceeded to host Torino FC at Stadio Olimpico last night on Matchday 26 of the 2023/2024 Italian Serie A Season.

After a quiet opening 40 minutes, a couple of goals were witnessed in the final moments of the first half, with both teams each getting onto the scoresheet. Paulo Dybala was the man who broke the deadlock of this Serie A encounter, when the Argentine bagged a goal from the spot as a result of a foul by substitute Saba Sazonov on Paulo Dybala’s teammate and strike partner Sardar Azmoun. Not long after the penalty, Duván Zapata managed to convert a bouncing header off Raoul Bellanova’s cross into the back of the net. Replay showed that the 24-year-old Mile Svilar should have done better with the effort.

Zapata’s equaliser may have dimmed AS Roma’s spirits in the game, but the night were majestically set up for the electric Paulo Dybala to lead De Rossi’s side to triumph. Three minutes before the hour mark, AS Roma regained their lead with a stunning long-ranged strike by Paulo Dybala. The 30-year-old forward received the ball way outside the penalty box, and he found the bottom left corner with his sensational left-footed effort; There was nothing the opposing goalkeeper Vanja Milinković-Savić could do with the amazing shot.

Paulo Dybala Hit His First AS Roma Treble in the Torino FC Win

Paulo Dybala needed only another 12 minutes to complete his treble of goals in the evening Serie A game. The Argentine star played two one-twos with Romelu Lukaku, who came onto the pitch by replacing Iranian Azmoun four minutes earlier, allowing him to travel to the penalty box, followed by his shot from the edge of the six-yard box. The goal gave Paulo Dybala his 12th tally in addition to six assists in 25 appearances for AS Roma in 2023/2024 Season, and the Argentine is not far away from besting his statistics last season, which were translated into 18 goals and eight assists in 38 games played in all competitions.

Torino FC did pull one back moments before the injury was given in the second half, thanks to an own goal caused by Dean Huijsen. The 18-year-old loanee from Juventus was caught in the wrong position and could not get out of the way during a delivery by Samuele Ricci, putting the ball into the back of the net of his own goal as a result. Nevertheless, the visitors just could not find another goal in the remaining seconds, meaning AS Roma emerge victorious against Torino FC on Paulo Dybala’s hattrick.

Paulo Dybala on His Man-of-the-Match Performance

Paulo Dybala spoke to the press on his hattrick performance: “It was a tough moment in the game. Torino can make things hard. They make you play differently. They had equalised straight away, and the game could have gone in any direction. I felt like shooting, and when the goal came, I ran to the bench, and the first person there was him. We always want to win. I want to win trophies no matter where I am. The season is still long. There will be a lot of difficult teams in the league. We have a difficult tie in the Europa League, but we know our objectives. We can not hide from it, so we’ll work to get them.”

The ex-Instituto Atlético Central Córdoba, Palermo FC and Juventus man also gave his thoughts about the city of Roma since his arrival at AS Roma at the start of last season. “When I arrived, I mentioned that I felt like I’d already lived another life in this city. But not when I moved here, but from the day I arrived in Italy. I don’t know what will happen in the future. I am enjoying every moment with this team and these teammates because they are wonderful,” said the FIFA World Cup winner from Laguna Larga, Argentina.

Paulo Dybala’s tremendous display of football skills attracted optimistic words from AS Roma legend and former captain Francesco Totti, who also commented on his former teammate De Rossi’s managerial career at Roma thus far in addition to his remarks on the hattrick hero Paulo Dybala. “Dybala? We are talking about a champion, a real champion. I’m happy for his first hat-trick, and here’s to hoping to see more important ones, for him and for Roma. De Rossi? Daniele has made his imprint thanks to his Roman spirit, his knowledge of the environment and of Trigoria. He started very well, let’s hope it continues this way.”
