Mathys Tel: The Potential 2024 Golden Boy Award Winner?
Despite being only 18 years of age, Mathys Tel has a couple of huge team accolades such as the 2022 UEFA European Under-17 Championship (Where he scored three goals during the group stage while also captained the French squad thrice in the tournament) and the 2022/2023 German Bundesliga 1 (Five goals in 22 league matches) trophies to his tender career. Should he be able to start more games and put on consistent performances for Bayern Munich in the near and far future, it would not be a surprise for Mathys Tel to be considered for the 2024 Golden Boy award.
The 18-year-old Mathys Tel was of course one of the 20 finalists that made it into the 2023 Golden Boy award, while the eventual individual achievement ended with Jude Bellingham from England, German Bundesliga 1’s Borussia Dortmund and Spanish La Liga’s Real Madrid as the receiver. Bellingham was faced with tough competition in the award ceremony, especially Mathys Tel’s club teammate Jamal Musiala, who also showed immense maturity as a midfielder despite his young age.
